My Review of E.L.F. Mineral Makeup

Been thinking about trying out those mineral makeup lines that you see in late night infomercials? I took the plunge when I found this $20 starter kit at E.L.F. and I’m so in love with it that I haven’t touched any other makup since. Here’s what I posted there:

Pros: Easy To Apply, Smooth, Long Lasting, Natural looking, Lightweight, Covers Well, Easy To Take-off, Sun protection

Cons: Need to practice applying

Best Uses: Travel, Everyday, Sensitive Skin

Describe Yourself: Natural, Adventurous, Professional

My face tans easily and my winter makeup routine looks and feels too heavy in the summertime. I got this starter kit and absolutely love it! It took a little while to get the hang of applying it right, but now I don’t use anything else, not even to conceal the bags underneath my eyes. People comment that I look like I’m glowing and I look much younger than my 40 years. I love that it has zinc and titanium for sun protection, too, and no petroleum products. It’s so easy and quick to put on, and it doesn’t clog my pores, even in sweaty weather. Add a little mascara and lip gloss and you’re good to go!

  1. Abi- I believe you just brush the concealer over areas that need concealing. 🙂 I apply it mainly underneath my eyes and on my T-zone and then use the foundation powder over my entire face and the blush powder on my cheekbones. I’ve watched an infomercial on mineral makeup (a different brand but same concept) and that is how they did it. You dip the brush into the powder, tap it off into the lid, and then apply in circular swirls. Not intuitive at all. 🙂

  2. When you told me about the E.L.F. sale a while back (is it still going on? wait… don’t tell me — I spent way to much money last time!) I went ahead and purchased the same kit. I do agree with you — the application isn’t intuitive. I don’t think I understand it still — does the concealer go over the whole face and then the foundation over the whole face? Why do I need both?

I do absolutely LOVE the blush (“Bliss”)… love love love it. It is subtle and perfect for daytime makeup (frankly, it would probably aslo be great for the evening, but I have a three-year old so I don’t go out much!).

Thanks for recommending this to me, Elizabeth!
