Detox with an Ionic Foot Bath

An ionic array in a clean tub of water at the beginning of a treatment.

Pulling out toxins through the soles of your feet is an effective way to detoxify your body, and an ionic foot bath can be a way to do it.

I’ll admit that ionic foot baths can seem to be one of the hokiest things in the world of natural health. Which makes it even more cool when you see the nastiness that appears in the water after a treatment and you realize that this schmegma came out through the soles of your feet.

It’s crazy. Soles seem pretty thick and calloused and impermeable. How can solid pebbles, slimy oil, and even cheesey chunks appear just from putting feet in clean water with a little salt and electricity?

It all comes down to the fact that we are electrical beings. We think of ourselves as solid bodies but in truth we are each a quivering blob of molecular bonds. E = mc2. Energy equals mass times the speed of light squared. In other words, mass is not actually solid since at the atomic level we are simply a bunch of atoms, with their spinning electrons, neutrons and protons, linked to other atoms by vibrating bonds.  Quantum physics.

The color of the water changes based on the toxins expelled.

Natural health is all about the frequency of those vibrations equating to health or dis-ease. Chinese medicine focuses on opening the body’s meridians to allow the energy to flow through the body. Homeopathy restores health by imprinting the missing frequencies in remedies. Reiki and Jin Shin Jyustu direct the body’s own energy toward healing.

Water is a great conductor of energy and the human body is more than 70% water. A well-functioning body vibrates at a certain frequency. When the frequency is off, we experience symptoms of malaise and disease. We live in a toxic world; cleaning out accumulated toxins helps our bodies function better.

An ionic array creates charged ions that complete an electrical circuit through the body and neutralized tissue acid wastes to facilitate the body’s ability to heal itself. You won’t be electrocuted, and your body will push toxins out through the soles of your feet.

Expelled toxins leave an oily residue around ankles and the rim of the tub.

After thirty minutes the water will have changed colors and density. There may be cloudy masses of cellular debris, or an oily slick on the top of the water, or black flakes or pebbles in the basin.

The color changes in the water can partly be attributed to the quality of the local water used, but the cloudy masses of cellular debris and the oily slick seen on the rim and on the ankles are the expelled toxins. Each of the baths pictured in this post used the same local water and are from different people.

Massage therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, spas, or nail salons in your area may offer ionic foot baths as a service. Use occasionally, weekly, or as often as every other day, to clear out toxins and restore health.

Got Some Magnesium with Your Calcium?

I loved reading Dr. Christiane Northrup’s post on the importance of getting enough magnesium in your body.

She points out that while most doctors recommend women get more calcium in their body to keep their bones strong, they neglect to mention that without magnesium the calcium won’t be absorbed.

A magnesium deficiency might look like constipation, infertility, migraines, muscle cramps, or a whole host of other signs and symptoms.

Carolyn Dean, M.D., N.D., author of The Magnesium Miracle (Ballantine Books, 2007), reports that these (and other) conditions are also associated with magnesium deficiency: blood clots, bowel disease, cystitis, depression, detoxification, diabetes, fatigue, hypoglycemia, insomnia, kidney disease, kidney stones, musculoskeletal conditions, osteoporosis, Raynaud’s syndrome, and even tooth decay. Dr. Dean also reports that she’s seen magnesium improve patients’ PMS, painful periods, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia. She’s also seen it increase their sexual pleasure!

My favorite ways to supplement magnesium include snacking on nuts and adding Epsom Salts to the bathtub to absorb it through the skin.
