» Are you suffering without relief?

Migraines? Irritable Bowel Syndrome? Fibromyalgia? Constant Runny Nose? Constipation? Diarrhea? Multiple Sclerosis or other Autoimmune disorder? ADHD? Acid Reflux?

Have you tried various doctors and medications without finding a lasting cure for your chronic condition?

The only thing that is guaranteed is that nothing will change if you don’t act to help your body. You have the power.

Healing From the Inside Out.
It’s time for a new, holistic approach. It’s time to take critical steps to take charge of your health. It’s time to feel better.

Inflammation is the Root of Much Chronic Disease

* What is rheumatoid arthritis? Inflammation of the joints.
* What are migraines? Inflammation/dilation of the blood vessels in the head.
* What is irritable bowel syndrome? Digestive malfunctions due to inflammation of the stomach and bowels.
* What is multiple sclerosis? Scar tissue damage resulting from inflammation of the myelin sheaths surrounding the nerves.
* What is fibromyalgia? Inflammation of the tendons and joints.

Think about your chronic health issues. It’s very likely the root cause can be traced to inflammation somewhere in your body. Whether there is visible, external, obvious swelling or not, the inflammatory reactions could be causing the symptoms that are causing you to suffer.

It’s something to consider.

Is Your Food Making You Sick?
Each person is an individual, with individual, specific tolerance levels and acceptance levels to everything we come into contact with. Perhaps your tolerance for ragweed is low; you might suffer from hayfever during ragweed season.

By the same token, perhaps your tolerance to something as innocuous as oregano or an apple is low; within 4 days after eating something seasoned with oregano or sweetened with apple juice, your symptoms might manifest. It could look like a headache. Swollen joints. Constipation. Or any of a number of other symptoms that you might be intimately familiar with.

Really? Something I ate can come back to haunt me 4 days later?

Yep. Food sensitivities may cause delayed reactions of 4 to 96 hours after ingestion. Talk about making it hard to trace the source of a problem!

Even If A Food Is “Healthy,” It May Not Be Healthy For You!
You may be sensitive to many of your favorite foods, causing constant inflammatory reactions ranging from the bowels to the joints to the head. Since symptoms might manifest anytime between 4 and 96 hours after ingestion, it can be near-impossible to correctly identify all the culprits.

Besides, you are unique in the universe. What works for your body may not work for someone else’s, and vice versa.

Excuse Me, But I Believe Your Gut Is Leaking
Incomplete digestion is astoundingly common in adults and children across the spectrum, but even more so in those suffering from chronic ailments. Supplementing with selected plant-based enzymes can mean absorption of nutrients, elimination of bowel pain, and effortless weight management. Eliminating foods that cause inflammatory reactions that lead to incomplete digestion can mean an end to migraines, IBS, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, ADD, and more.

Oral Tolerance Has Nothing To Do with Your Tastebuds
Healthy people have healthy guts that don’t have problems digesting their food or accepting it. This is called “oral tolerance.” Loss of oral tolerance with subsequent immunologic reactions to food is not understood or considered by most doctors in the US because it’s not consistent with current scientific dogma which dismisses the role of food in health.

Let me ask you: Are you getting better by following the current scientific dogma?

Or are you becoming a “customer-for-life” of various drug companies who make medications that may alleviate some of the symptoms but don’t address the underlying cause in the first place. Not to mention the side effects on your body.

It can be frustrating to identify the trigger foods or chemicals due to delayed and dose dependent reactions. Even though you may feel pretty certain that something you are eating is causing your problems, it may be impossible to determine everything you’re sensitive to. It may be trendy to blame everything on gluten intolerance, but only 7% of the population actually has Celiac’s disease, so maybe it will be a lucky guess for you. Or maybe not.

Many people end up eliminating many foods unnecessarily by taking shots in the dark trying to determine all the culprits. And you may not get better because you may still be missing some problem foods and chemicals.

Wouldn’t it be cool to know for sure what foods or food additives your body is reacting to?

LEAP-MRT is the Solution for Many Chronic and Autoimmune Conditions
Fortunately, there’s a program called LEAP (Lifestyle Eating And Performance) that can help quickly overcome even the most troublesome food sensitivity related problems. LEAP includes a patented blood test called MRT (Mediator Release Test) that accounts for both Type 3 sensitivity reactions and the more common Type 4 pathways. MRT also identifies reactions to food chemicals. This translates into faster and more complete relief from symptoms because you can effectively eliminate all of the harmful stimuli at once.

Yeah, I've Had Allergy Testing Done and Nothing Helpful Turned Up
Independent studies confirm MRT is the most accurate and most comprehensive blood test available for food and food-chemical reactions. Other allergy testing methodologies, as noted in the chart to the left, are not only less accurate than MRT, but some, like the skin-prick tests used for RAST, only look for antibodies and not the mediators like histamines, cytokines, and chemokines that cause inflammatory responses. Type IV hypersensitivity reactions are often delayed and dose-dependent, and they don't result in antibodies.

Getting the MRT results and applying them with LEAP dietary management strategies have helped thousands of patients across the country turn years of suffering into a bright, happy, healthy future, free of the symptoms that once seemed an inescapable part of life.

What Food Sensitivities May Look Like: My son’s story
My son started out as a frequent projectile vomiting infant and toddler combined with chronic painful constipation. He was diagnosed with GERD at 2 ½ years old. I was stunned; acid reflux before you’re three?

We finally managed to quell the constant vomiting but could not get a handle on the constant constipation. We tried it all. Fiber. Water. Probiotics. Magnesium. Prunes. Fish oil. Castor oil. Mineral oil. Senna. Miralax. We took him off of wheat and dairy and soy. He ate only whole, organic foods and whole grains. Nothing worked.

He was small for his age – the smallest in his class. Dropped off the weight chart at one point as a baby. And a skinny kid, even though he ate large quantities of food and had an adventurous and accepting palate. His favorite foods were broccoli and Brussels sprouts.

While he was a loving kid with a large vocabulary and quick mind, he was moody, could be crabby, and threw tantrums. He had trouble at school.

One day in kindergarten he projectile vomited spontaneously while standing in the lunch line at school. That night his abdomen was burning hot. We ended up at Children’s Hospital getting an abdominal x-ray to try to get to the bottom of things. The good news was that we could see his bowel was anatomically correct. The bad news was that it was filled solid with backed up fecal matter.

It was a desperate time. We needed a new direction because none of the old ones had worked. We left the hospital and found a naturopath.

Our new naturopath said to us, “This really looks like food sensitivities.” She encouraged us to take the MRT blood test. The results changed our lives.

We discovered that he was sensitive to 41 foods and chemical additives and preservatives.

Forty-one sensitivities!

There were some of the usual suspects like wheat, cow’s milk, and corn, but also some surprises like lemon, oregano, and garlic. Also two extremely common red and yellow food dyes that show up in practically everything a little kid sees on commercials and wants to eat.

My son was completely on board with the new menu. He was tired of feeling crappy (literally!) all the time. He wanted to get better. He was willing to try a new way of eating.

We found new foods that contained only ingredients we knew to be safe for him. He was still able to enjoy many of his favorite things, albeit in different formulas.

The constipation eased up.

Within two months of following the LEAP therapy we noticed that he had grown more than 2 inches and gained 15 lbs. He was no longer the runt of his class. He had filled out and was a more solid kid than ever before.

Perhaps the most striking change has been in his happiness levels. The tantrums have disappeared and left behind a sweet boy who is thriving at school and surging forward intellectually.

Of course he’s happier because he feels better. Everything in his life is now better.

You Can Feel Better, Too!
After more than a decade studying nutrition and developing my whole foods healthy cooking technique, I was inspired to become a LEAP Therapist after realizing that what had turned my son’s life around had the potential to help so many others.

I realize that food sensitivities may manifest differently in each person, but if the chronic condition has anything to do with inflammation, the cause might be what you are eating.

To be able to identify the offenders without a lengthy, uncomfortable, unreliable elimination diet offers a previously unimaginable opportunity for a cure for so many people suffering from so many conditions.

Still Doubtful? Here’s a Testimonial

I am a 62 year-old female with Crohn's disease, asthma, and early COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). I am now 13 days into my customized LEAP diet.

I went to see my pulmonologist yesterday for a regular check-up. For the first time in I don't know how many years, my PFT came back NORMAL. This is unbelievable to me. He asked me if I have been exercising or something. Hardly, since I've gotten away from my normal exercise routine. The only thing I've changed is diet. Oh, and that eczema that's always been on my arm is gone too.

Happy camper.

Here’s Another Inspiring Story from Someone Who Is No Longer Suffering

I am a 39-year old female who was diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome a year ago. I have been under the care of a rheumatologist for a year.

With the help of approximately 10 prescription medications I saw little improvement in my symptoms of this autoimmune disease. I continued to have severe flares and added complications despite the fact that I was taking daily prescription medications, nutritional supplements, and was working out with a personal trainer. I had been referred out to three other specialists to deal with interstitial cystitis, uncontrollable and debilitating migraine headaches, and gynecological problems. I was approaching 40 and felt as though I was facing disability.

I have been a Registered Dietitian for 15 years, so my "healthy diet" was in place. While attending the annual California Dietetic Association Meeting in April of this year, I meet a colleague who specializes in MRT, I was curious and asked her several questions about her practice. Well, needless to say, I was calling to make an appointment her first day back in the office. I, along with my 5 year old daughter, who had suffered from food allergies since birth and had been on prescription medications for asthma and allergies since she was 2, had the MRT testing done. Since we received our results and started the elimination diet, our lives have been changed!

In one month, according to the LEAP Symptom Survey, my symptoms decreased 69 points! I hardly have any symptoms related to Sjogren's!

My energy level is higher than it has been in years! My interstitial cystitis resolved without seeing another physician and adding another medication, and I no longer have the 3 plus debilitating migraine headaches a month! I have reduced my prescription medications to 5 a day and have decreased the dosages of those! Better yet, I have lost those 20 pounds that I have battled with since having my last child!

My daughter's results were as exciting as mine! In a month's time, she was no longer taking ANY prescription medications! For the first time since birth, her stools have consistently become solid. She no longer has to miss school because of severe diarrhea, stomachaches, and headaches. Her mood and energy level has increased tremendously because she feels good!

The MRT/LEAP Program helped me identify foods and chemicals that I had no idea that we were reacting to, even though nutrition is my specialty! I no longer see myself as debilitated. As a matter of fact, I am so convinced that this program only produces positive results for those dealing with chronic health issues, after being a stay-at-home mom for 8 years, I am training to become a Certified LEAP Therapist and opening a private practice. I would strongly recommend this program to anyone who has unanswered health issues.

Do Food and/or Chemical Sensitivities Play a Role in Multiple Sclerosis?
As someone who lives with MS, I believe they do. They may even be the cause of the whole dysfunction.

Alessio Fasano, professor of pediatrics, medicine and physiology and director of the Mucosal Biology Research Center and the Center for Celiac Research at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, wrote in Scientific American's August, 2009, issue that,

"Indeed, a growing body of evidence suggests that virtually the same trio of factors underpins most, and perhaps all, autoimmune diseases: an environmental substance that is presented to the body, a genetically based tendency of the immune system to overreact to the substance, and an unusually permeable gut."

Plain and simple: if you have food and chemical sensitivities and you get rid of the offending foods and chemicals, everything else will get better.

Beyond this fact, though, is that hypersensitivity reactions in the body happen due to overreactions by the same subset of white blood cells -- the T-cells -- that are implicated in multiple sclerosis. It makes me think there may be a link there that has been overlooked by MS researchers.

Will this cure your MS? I don’t know yet, but I strongly believe that you'll see beneficial results regardless. We know for sure that it cures migraines, IBS, and fibromyalgia, and many other chronic ailments that have confounded doctors.

Wouldn't it be amazing if you could turn around the course of your disease simply by changing your diet?

That's what I did, and the last time I had an MS exacerbation was 2002. I'm certain that this record has everything to do with what I eat and don't eat.

That’s why I’m conducting a research study with the aim of publication in a scientific journal. Check out the Fight MS with Food project to learn more about it, and read some testimonials from clients with and without MS.

There May Be Other Hidden Issues Lurking As Well
Parasites, electrolyte or nutrient imbalance, heavy metal accumulation, or other issues may also play a role in your affliction. We'll do an extensive health history to unearth any buried causes. Cleanses, supplements, homeopathic, or herbal remedies may be recommended to address specific health issues.

At no time will any pharmaceutical medications be recommended or adjusted. That is between you and your doctor. We’re just going to talk about food and what you eat.

Universally Accessible
All consultations are conducted by email, phone, or Skype. Lab samples are collected by you and submitted directly to a lab for testing. The nature of distance health consulting such as this requires a commitment to participate in laboratory testing when recommended and complete periodic assessments as requested.

Frequently Asked...

Q:Where do I go to get tested for food sensitivities?

A: Once you sign up for food sensitivity testing, we will send you a collection kit to take to a local phlebotomist, who will draw your blood into the kit. Many labs will even take care of getting the prepaid overnight FedEx packaging sent off.

Q:What is the connection between MS and food sensitivities?

A: T-cells are a subset of white blood cells that are known to be the instigators of exacerbations in multiple sclerosis. Research for a cure for MS focuses on how to suppress the T-cells, or stop them from setting off an immunologic response once they have been mysteriously triggered. As my neurologist explained after my own diagnosis with MS eleven years earlier, no one knows why the T-cells in MS patients decide to attack the person’s own body when their job as part of the immune system is to protect the body.

Q: What is the Fight MS with Food project?

A: The Fight MS with Food project exists to explore the link between undiagnosed food sensitivities and multiple sclerosis. To learn more about it and determine if you are a good candidate for enrollment, watch the video higher on this page and then visit FightMSwithFood.com.

Q: How is the LEAP/MRT food sensitivity test different from other allergy tests available?

A: Other allergy tests look for Type I and Type II hypersensitivity reactions that result in antibody formation. These tests look for those antibodies to determine an "allergy". Unfortunately, antibodies don't tell the whole story.

Since Type IV hypersensitivity reactions don't create antibodies, the MRT looks instead for an indication of an inflammatory reaction resulting from release of mediators like histimine into the blood.

The Lifestyle Eating and Performance (LEAP) therapeutic dietary management program ensures that any hidden issues are ferreted out, so that you can avoid all traces of irritants. Rather than facing a difficult "elimination diet," a LEAP therapist designs a customized menu around the foods we know to be safe.

Q: My physical issue isn't listed here, but I'm pretty sure that inflammation plays a role. Would food sensitivity testing help me?

A: The most likely answer is YES! If there is chronic unexplained inflammation that you know of, or even if you simply suspect that something you're eating is causing your problems, you're probably right. Contact us for a FREE consultation to find out!
