Elizabeth’s Spice Box

I really wanted to put together a special gift box of spices and flavors that I love to share with some special people this season. With the help of the great folks down at the Savory Spice Shop, I assembled a few of my favorite things into a lovely box and included a couple unique, un-published Glorious One-Pot Meal recipes to give ideas on how to use them. The recipes are designed to slip neatly inside a Glorious One-Pot Meals cookbook, which the Savory Spice Shop will also slip into your order if you want. 🙂

spice_box.JPGHere’s what’s inside:

Pomegranate molasses — Mmmmmm… I have been into this stuff for a while now. Sweet but with a tartness reminiscent of cranberries, it is a perfect foil for hotter elements. Comes with the new recipe Sweet, Tart & Spicy Chicken.

Lodo Red Adobo — This addictive chile pepper blend is fabulous for everything from grilling meats to adding a zip to pumpkin soup (see post about this soon!). Comes with the new recipe Lodo Adobo Salmon.

Portuguese flaked flor de sal — If you follow my writings you know what an advocate of sea salt I am. I like flor de sal (literally: flowers of salt) for daily use, which are small flakes gathered from the top layer of salt beds.

White Pepper, finely ground — While freshly-cracked black pepper has been de rigeur for years in American cuisine, a dusting of white pepper offers a different flavor option and one that I personally prefer in many instances. Since I’ve seen it used in a few spectacular dishes at some of the best restaurants in the city recently, I have to wonder if it is an emerging trend.

spice_box2.JPGFor the special price of $20, this custom set is beautifully boxed with high-quality fresh herbs such as cinnamin sticks, dried chile peppers, and star of anise used as ornamentation (be sure the recipient saves these herbs to use later!). The Savory Spice Shop has agreed to extend this offer to any of my readers — and they will include my exclusive recipes in the box as well! Just tell them you want the Elizabeth Yarnell box and they will be happy to put it together for you and ship it out.

A great gift idea for special people or one your own family will enjoy!
