I always like to offer my food sensitivity clients a sweet treat, and this recipe allows people to use their personal “safe” nuts and “safe” sweetener to make this addictive snack.
Even for those who aren’t dealing with food sensitivity issues, these treats will satisfy the craving for sweets that most of us have without straying from your eating plan.
Makes 2 cups.
- 2 cups shelled nuts (cashews, hazelnuts, walnuts, pistachios, etc.)
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup, honey, simple syrup, agave, or other natural sweetener
- Optional spice mixture: ¼ tsp. each cumin, paprika, sea salt mixed together in a small bowl.
Preheat oven to 315°F. Place a porcelain dinner plate in the freezer to chill.
In a medium bowl, mix together nuts and maple syrup to coat.
Spread nuts in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the nuts are lightly toasted.
Pour nuts onto chilled plate. Store cooled nuts in airtight container.
